The object that I have chosen to study more in depth is this Om symbol above. This Om is similar to the majority of the Om symbols that one would see in a temple or a store. However, the shape is more three-like than the majority of the Om symbols that I see. The red and golden colors are present because they are considered to be holy or sacred colors within the Hindu religion. The small platform or pedestal that the Om sits on has no other purpose except to hold it steady and to prevent it from rolling away. The cubic zirconia diamonds that are embedded within the Om symbol also have no particular purpose, except to make the Om symbol itself look more aesthetically pleasing to most. The relatively small size of the Om means that it would probably be placed in a religious temple or a small familial altar, along with the figures of the gods and goddesses.
